designer protein
Senior Graphic Designer & Photographer
From 2017 to 2020, I had the pleasure of working as the in-house Graphic Designer and Photographer for Designer Protein in Carlsbad, California. Reporting to the Creative Director, I was responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:
Planning and creating all social media assets to include still imagery, short video, and GIF
Updating studio and lifestyle product photography
Managing the label route with updates and changes, submitting to printer and final approval process
Designing web banners, digital and print advertisements, and email marketing
Brainstorming and executing campaign ideas with the team
Designing collateral for sales and marketing events
Print Advertisements
From image selection to layout and messaging.
Lifestyle Product Photography
In addition to graphic design, I demonstrated my photography skills, which allowed me to take on more responsibilities and increase my impact within the company. I helped revamp their product photography library, enhancing both their social media presence and website. I also learned basic video production skills, enabling me to create dynamic content that complemented the visual updates.
brand ambassador promotional video
One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of from my work with Designer Protein was the above video I created out of a need for more dynamic content. I’m by no claiming the title of videographer but I’m always looking to learn, improve, and take on challenges that are outside my comfort zone. This was definitely outside of my comfort zone. Label ReDesign concepts
This project was both fun and challenging, and while these designs were never implemented during my time at Designer Protein, I learned a great deal throughout the process.
The primary issue we aimed to address was the lack of cohesion in Designer Protein's product line (see the current design on the last slide). Customers often felt confused by the brand, overwhelmed by the information presented, and frustrated, which could lead to lost sales.
To solve this problem, I developed a design that unified all the brands under the Designer Protein umbrella by using the company’s gray color as a base. Each sub-brand was labeled with its assigned color through a band along the bottom and featured a large descriptor that could be easily identified without having to lift the container from the shelf.
brand ambassador, Bethany Hamilton
In June of 2018, I went with the Designer Protein marketing team and Thatch Creative to shoot video and photo of our newest brand ambassador, Bethany Hamilton.
